I’m passionate about a lot of things: writing, makeup, poetry… And I’m easily inspired by people and what they do. A simple act of kindness can easily move me to tears. It’s then when I’m reminded that the world needs more people who are passionate and inspired. People who are willing and eager to radiate some sort of happiness, so that other’s may also catch some of it.
What inspires me the most I think, is seeing people do what they are truly passionate about, regardless of what everyone else thinks. I reckon this is the hardest thing to overcome. “People criticise what they don’t understand”,Β this is sad but true. I know that I fall into the trap as well – and when I think about it afterwards I feel ashamed because who am I to judge?
What’s made this clear to me recently, was actually something so tiny. The act of trying a new item of clothing (how silly does that sound), but being so against it at first because it’s not my norm. And simply because it’s not my normΒ “what would other people think?” Writing this out now it seems so pathetic! But this is a truth, and in a much broader context it can be applied to bigger things.
However, who even cares? Let’s just let people be and if they’re happy then that’s even better π And that’s my little bit of positivity for the week.
Moving on to my outfit – this was not the piece of clothing mentioned above (we’ll ignore that for now). But clothing is another thing that really resonates with something inside of me. There’s a lot of creativity in putting together outfits – I learnt this from my mama π – and there’s so much expression in it too. Again, it’s difficult to understand what you’re not used to. But perhaps clothing and dress-sense is a stepping stone for the larger problems in our world.
I really had a lot of fun planning this outfit. This knee-length, black dress is from Cotton On and it’s the perfect style for an everyday look. It’s not like your typical Little Black Dress, that’s accustomed to being dolled up and taken for a fancy evening out. This dress is more casual, to throw on with some sneakers and a cap. And voila!
I think it’s important for there to be people in this world who try to remain aware of things around them; positive and negative. We all have to live on this earth together, and some of the things that are happening are plain frightening really. And the only way we can overcome them is to keep a positive mindset – even if it’s difficult to understand. As long as we’re trying and have good intentions, that’s all that matters.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on passion and inspiration! Have a great weekend π
