My No Makeup – Makeup

IMG_2338

I feel like it’s been so long since I last posted a makeup tutorial! But varsity has been so hectic, and life too. However, I’m back! And sharing the no makeup – makeup look that the world is going crazy for.

This look is really just about good, glowing, natural skin and enhancing your best features.

To start, I apply urban Decay’s b6 spray. It really is amazing for moisture and adding some vitamins to the skin. It also feels so lovely to apply. Then I’m also using the Temptu primer. I put this on once the b6 spray has settled. The Temptu primer is great because it’s specifically meant for airbrush makeup, so it really allows the makeup to hold for longer during the day.

Once my skin is prepped and primed, I go on to foundation, highlighting and contouring. If you have yet to master these skills, I have written a post about it which you can find here.

You only want to highlight areas which you wish to emphasise, and contour the areas which you want to make appear smaller. IMG_2301 IMG_2304 IMG_2306

(Please excuse my chapped lips. Damn winter.) I have highlighted my cheekbones, down the centre of my nose and just above my jaw bone. Then I contoured right underneath my cheekbones, along the sides of my nose and a little bit close to my hairline around my forehead.

I have used Mehron’s cream foundations to contour and highlight, and Stila’s Aqua Glow foundation for the rest of my face. I used my beauty blender to create a really smooth and glowing look. Beauty blenders are awesome tools and you can find them for about R20 – R30 at Dischem! Barrrrrrgain!

After this, I go on to my very simple eye makeup. And of course – my BROWS!

I use two neutral shades on my lids. An orangey-beige to cover my whole lid, and then a darker brown applied along the top lash line, all the way to the inner corner of my eyes. Don’t forget to blend 😉

For my brows, I use Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow. This product is literally my life! My brows are eternally thankful for it. (At least I’m nowhere near dramatic.) I also applied a Rimmel clear brow gel to set them.

The Bobbi Brown angled brush is my absolute best to apply my product to my eyebrows. Most brushes I find are too thin, but this one is such a good shape and thickness to achieve a really stunning eyebrow shape.

Along with my eyeshadow and eyebrows, I apply my mascara. For this look, because it’s so simple, I really wanted to make my eyes pop. For this purpose I used two different mascaras. The one is a Day to Night mascara from Rimmel. It has a thick brush for volume and a thinner one for length. I apply a few coats of the length brush to my upper lashes, and then go over them with the volume brush. On my lower lashes, because I don’t want length there (otherwise I always end up having black smudges under my eyes) I have used another Rimmel mascara, Extra 3D Lash, and I use this one for my bottom lashes.

I just apply the mascara wiggling the wand from side to side, rather than applying all the way down on my lashes, again for the reason of not wanting black smudges!

My finishing touches are my blush (Benefit’s Rocketeur), Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit (Gleam) and I always like to apply a powder finish to my contour. So I use a dark brown eyeshadow!

The lip colour I have used is a very neutral colour. It’s an Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in the shade Stripped.
