Oh sweet, sweet lip products… How we love you.
A change in lip colour, texture or formula can make the biggest difference to the outcome of any look. And the beauty of it (pun definitely intended) is that the choice is so vast and wide when it comes to choosing the perfect lip products for you. The lips are like the cherry on top, or the icing on the cake. They are always the last part of the application and they bring the entire look together. The power of the lipstick is definitely a force to be reckoned with! It might not seem like a big thing to some, but with one swipe of a rich, creamy colour, or a glossy, juicy finish, a person’s confidence may sky rocket for the rest of the day. You see – it’s not much, but it’s powerful! So here are the five lip products I’m currently loving.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipsticks in Dolce and Stripped
I will never get over the excitement of owning ABH Liquid Lipsticks. For a make-up obsessed lady such as myself, any products that aren’t available in the land of South Africa become prized possessions once acquired. It’s true! That’s why we are so grateful for MUSE Beauty, who bring in all the international brands for us to enjoy too! But all that aside, these liquid lipsticks are both gorgeous shades. I’ve definitely shared them multiple times on my blog, but how can you blame me? ‘Stripped’ is a gorgeous nude shade – if the name didn’t give it away immediately – and it leaves you with the most beautiful, natural looking lips. ‘Dolce’ on the other hand is more of a subtle coral shade, with hints of peach and pink. It’s absolutely gorgeous for the spring time, when bright, full lips is what you’re aiming for! I have been wearing both shades a lot over the past few weeks and I even went as far as to apply some of the ‘Stripped’ shade in the centre of my lips, over the ‘Dolce’ colour. It gives a different effect and it’s fun to just play around with lip products that way!
Too Faced Melted Matte Liquid Lipstick in Queen B
Once again, another beauty brand that does not exist on this side of the globe, but is still loved by so many here! The Too Faced Melted Matte lipstick range is so gorgeous and the shades are even more amazing. This shade, ‘Queen B’, is a mauve/grey/purple-y colour that, obviously, I’m a big fan of. I have serious heart eyes for this mixture of shades. Since all the hype started around grey lipstick I have definitely been on board, but with my fair skin I think it’s safe to say that the mauve is more suited to me (although that’s not going to stop me from wearing grey lipstick. Duh). So it’s just as well that I fell in love with this Too Faced shade immediately! As the name suggests, it has a matte finish, so you won’t achieve juciy, glossy lips if that’s what you’re after. But with matte shades comes longer-lasting wear and of course, the fierce boldness that you need more than anything sometimes!
MAC Matte Lipstick in Heroine and KIKO Ultra Glossy Stylo
Isn’t it amazing when you fall back in love with products you haven’t used in a while but you used to be smitten over? That’s how I feel about these two products. The MAC lipstick in ‘Heroine’ was the starting point of my love for deep lipstick shades. It was in 2014 when my best friend introduced me to this shade, and honestly I must’ve worn it at every possible opportunity! It’s a deep purple colour, with a very slight fuchsia undertone. I always paired it with the ‘Magenta’ lipliner from MAC as well, though there is an actual ‘Heroine’ lipliner available. But my oh my, wearing this lipstick again has made me so excited about purple shades. It’s so pigmented, it lasts FOREVER on the lips and it’s incredibly eye catching. Most certainly a lip product to try out if you haven’t yet!
The second product that has re-emerged from my make-up bag was this KIKO Milano Ultra Glossy Stylo. Funnily enough, the same friend who introduced me to ‘Heroine’ (it sounds so funny to say that!) also bought me this product as a gift from Europe. (Sadly I think they may have discontinued this particular product, but here is a similar one.) It’s not actually a blue lipstick, it comes out clear on the lips. It’s amazing for adding moisture to matte lipsticks (or any lipsticks) and it creates a beautiful shine. I’ve been applying it over my liquid lipsticks when I’m not necessarily feeling a matte finish, and it works so well. What can I say? The possibilities of make-up are endless!

The friend who bought it for me did so because she thought it was going to be blue! I think I get more wear out of it though than if it were! xxx
