Happy Easter everyone! To those who celebrate and to those who don’t – however you’ve spent your day, I hope it’s been filled with good food and all your loved ones.

We had such a beautiful brunch-turned-into-proper-lunch at our house with some special people. The table was decorated so amazingly, with the pastel-coloured tablecloth and all the coloured Easter eggs.

The food was a mixture of croissants, salad, bread, eggs (chocolate and real) and good old champagne. It was such a lovely day as well. The sun was shining and it was mostly pretty warm, which made the time outside so enjoyable.

Although it’s really exciting to have one day in the year where it’s completely acceptable to have chocolate for every, single meal (like really, really), there’s so much more to be thankful for.

My brother and I have always given up things for Lent, and when Easter Sunday comes it’s always a huge relief to be able to finally indulge in what you’ve been missing for those 40 days. And this has made me think how crazy it is that until you consciously give something up, you don’t realise how much you miss it. We very easily take important things for granted – not necessarily the sweets you’ve given up for Lent – but the idea of going without something that is usually second nature to you, can really open up your eyes.

Basically, even though you don’t ‘give up’ family or friends for Lent (that would be weird) but the way we can take them for granted or forget to tell them how we appreciate them, can be ways in which we essentially do give them up.

This is something that has been on my mind quite a bit. And I wanted to share it seeing as today is a day of new beginnings, new life and genuine love. This also means your animals – because they are just as important!

One of my mom’s friends made this amazing tart. It had no dairy, no flour, and was incredible. It was also very pleasing to the eye 😉

For someone who really loves desserts and never says no, I will never understand how people can be so good and not have a tiny bit of a splurge on a day like today! It’s so important to have balance in life, and that also means with diet – so I’m all for encouraging a bit of an indulgence with sweet treats on Easter. Without feeling bad!

I hope that this post has been a little inspiring for you – not only to enjoy all the yumminess now and then – but also to show your love to those around you. The scary thing is, nothing in life is guaranteed. So eat the cake, kiss you family and cuddle your animals. Every. Single. Day.
