When I first told people I was attending a premiere for the movie John Wick, I got a few puzzled responses. If you know me you are well aware that I’m very much, as one of my friend’s put it, the antithesis of John Wick. However, as my head is in the clouds a lot of the time (it’s more fun up there!), I wasn’t really too mindful about what I was going to watch, I was mainly excited about the experience and buzz of the actual event! Which didn’t disappoint in the least. I took along one of my best friend’s, Nabila, which always makes anything more fun.
Food provided by Simply Asia meant delicious sushi, tofu noodles and chicken or vegetarian spring rolls. I absolutely love Simply Asia, it’s one of the places my family and I get take aways from most often, so you can imagine the excitement already. The event was filled with all sorts of glamorous people, who walked the “red” carpet (that was actually black, if we’re getting technical) and then chatted and posed as the night began. You best believe I took the opportunity to dress up and throw on all the fabulous makeup. That’s just the best part of any outing!
Onto the actual movie…
I’d never seen the previous two movies, so I didn’t actually have much to go on in terms of storyline or anything like that. Thinking back I don’t know why I didn’t actually give them a watch before the premiere of number 3 – head in the clouds big time, I tell you! But anyway, I went into the movie with an open mind. The popcorn, coke and sour worms combination found on my seat definitely got me fully into that movie thrill. Another reason why I wanted to attend the premiere; I am a sucker for going to the movies! I find so much excitement in it, so naturally I jumped at the opportunity. I’m digressing now, sorry guys! The fact of the matter is that John Wick and the action involved is not my type of movie. I can appreciate the acting, the camera work, and all that goes into the art of the film, but sadly I’m not the right audience for chopped heads and fingers! ( ) I will say though, if you enjoy intense action, fight scenes, and the overall exhilaration of a movie packed with stunts and nonstop energy from start to finish, you will absolutely love this film and your eyes will be glued to the screen. As for me, my eyes were shut a lot of the time because of.. well, everything I just mentioned.
The event itself was incredible and I feel really lucky that I got to be there. Thank you to Starburst Promotions and TeamFinity ZA for hosting it. Even though I may not be the best person to retell the story of John Wick 3: Parabellum, the premiere and execution of the actual event was unforgettable and one I don’t mind retelling again and again!
