Queen of Hearts
The star of the show is the Queen of Hearts eyeshadow palette. This palette has shades that are truly fit for royalty – majestic, fearless, vibrant! The whole palette, including the packaging, is so perfectly suited to its name ‘Queen of Hearts’. With a product like this, which includes such a gorgeous range of shades, like purples, burnt orange, bronze, and silver to name a few, you really can’t go wrong with creating a whole variety of looks. And I love it because it doesn’t have to feel intimidating if you are not particularly comfortable with colour, the variety between bright shades and the more neutral ones makes it so easy to use for everyday too!
The first look I created was this maroon/purple eye look, with a hint of gold in the centre. These are some of my favourite colours because I like the way they bring out my brown eyes. Purple is known to complement brown eyes in particular, so of course I couldn’t wait to play with the ones in the palette. I added a little bit of the burnt orange to my top lash line and my lower lash line towards the inner corner, and it just created a fresh pop of colour that added extra flair to the look. When it came to blending out the shadows it was a dream! These shades really feel so buttery and just so easy to blend, which again makes it a great palette, even for people who are just starting out. And lastly, I can’t not mention the pigment. WOW. There is so much life to these shades and that’s really something that’s become important to me when I do my makeup – for me, makeup is such a form of therapy, so using colours that are bold and rich just makes me feel so excited. It basically brings happiness into my day – yes, makeup can really be that powerful. Overall the Queen of Hearts palette undoubtedly captured my heart and I’m so excited to create even more looks with it!
The next products I tried out were the lip lacquers, which feel like and look like liquid lipsticks. Because of my dry skin though, my lips suffer from flaking and liquid lipsticks can feel quite intense on them. What I have been doing is using a lip exfoliator and then applying some lip balm before going in with the lipsticks. This little routine definitely helps with locking in some moisture to my lips and makes the liquid lipsticks feel a lot gentler in a way. The shades I received are so beautiful. I got two nudes (Mars and Nude), one deep purple (Roulette) and one cherry red (Cherry Blossom). The one thing I need to rave about regarding these is the longevity. I applied some swatches on my arm and I’m not joking, the stains were still there the next day, even after my bath! So, if you’re looking for a product to stay put through the day and the evening too, here’s your answer! Personally, I am so bad at reapplying lip products throughout the day, so products such as these are really convenient for me because I can apply them in the morning and forget about my lips for the rest of the day. The only thing I would have preferred is if the applicators were slightly smaller. I feel like it can be a bit tricky to get a precise application when you have small lips, but really that’s not a huge downer at all. Other than that, the shades are super rich in pigment and very soft to apply. In the makeup look above I am wearing the shade Mars. It comes out slightly more mauve than it looks in the packaging, but I found that I really enjoyed the shade. It complemented this eye look and it also helps in bringing out my brown eyes once again, in my opinion.

The last product I received were the eyelashes. Can I just say that these are so incredibly pretty and fluffy! On the packaging it also mentions that they are vegan friendly – how awesome is that! They feel so soft and they aren’t too heavy on the eyes, which makes the biggest difference to me. Especially as someone who very rarely wears fake eyelashes, it can be quite an adjustment when feeling them on top of your natural lashes. I did take a few seconds to get used to them at first, but once that initial feeling passed, I basically forgot they were there.
I’ve loved pairing these with very simple eye looks. In the look below, I used the burnt orange shade ‘Empress’ across my whole lid. A single, solid colour is really in right now and it’s a look that I think is so flattering, plus it’s so easy to do – you’re only working with one shade! I brought the orange slightly into my inner corners and I left the lower lash lines bare to allow the lashes and eyeshadow to really be the main focus.

My first impression of Coloured Raine Cosmetics was that it is a brand only targeted at artists, however upon actually testing the products for myself I can see how wrong I was! There is such a beautiful combination of artistry and everyday use that has gone into these products, and for that I am so pleased. My favourite product is definitely the eyeshadow palette because of how versatile it is and also how luxurious it feels with its matte black packaging and gold accents. It truly does make you feel like royalty! I would love to know if you have ever tried this brand, and if so, what you thought of their products? Also, let me know what you think of the looks I created! Keep an eye out on my Instagram for more fun looks I will be creating with this gorgeous palette.
