The denim skirt has long been a wardrobe staple, but I think it had a little bit of a break for the last few years. Luckily it has made its comeback and it’s without a doubt one of the best pieces I own! I had been looking for the perfect denim mini towards the end of last year and when I stumbled upon this one from Forever 21, I knew I had to have it. It was right after Christmas too, so it was on the sale rack! For such a classic item it was a huge bargain, and I am all for the bargains.
This style is extremely flattering. It’s very simple, and the light wash denim is perfect for keeping things more casual. Mini skirts are versatile in general though, so even with a cute pair of heels this denim piece would look stunning! Because we are moving into the colder months I paired it with some ankle boots that were also from Forever 21. Though once winter really hits I don’t think I’d be wearing this skirt bare legged like I was here! The t-shirt I’m wearing was one from Factorie (also bought on sale – are you seeing the pattern!) I really love the combination of the more structured skirt with a loose, simple top.
For this outfit I definitely went for a more “grungier” (if you could even call it that) look. The ankle boots add a very ‘street-style’ feel to the look, whereas when I wore it with more sophisticated boots that had a block heel, the whole look was immediately more elegant. The right accessories can seriously make the difference in going from an easy day look to a more glamorous night look! And with knee high boots or stockings and sneakers, this skirt can certainly be worn in the coming winter. Oh how I love adaptable fashion!
